- Threshold ramps handle rises from half an inch to about six inches.
- Rubber models cost $40–$150 and stay put by weight.
- Aluminum and adjustable models cost $120–$300 and suit larger rises.
- Measure the rise at the highest point of the sill, not the average.
Measuring correctly
Measure from the floor or landing surface to the top of the sill at its highest point. Then check the door swing: an inward-swinging door needs the ramp to clear the door bottom, which sometimes requires a beveled model.
Interior thresholds count too
Transitions between rooms — tile to carpet, or into a sunken living room — are a common trip hazard and a common wheelchair obstacle. Small interior transition ramps cost under $60 and fix them.
